Waiver of Fees
No student will be denied educational services or academic credit due to the inability of parents / guardians to pay school fees. Fees for textbooks and other materials are waived for students who meet eligibility criteria. The superintendent will recommend to the Board of Education
for adoption what fees, if any, the district will waive for students who meet criteria. Students receiving a fee waiver are not exempt from charges for lost / damaged books, locks, materials, supplies, and equipment.
Students are eligible for a fee waiver when:
The student services coordinator will give additional consideration where one or more of the following factors are present:
Approval & Appeal Process
- Emergency situation
- Illness in the family
- One or more of the parents / guardians is involved in a work stoppage
- Seasonal unemployment of parents / guardians
- Unusual family expenses, such as fire, flood, or storm damage
Parents / guardians must submit written evidence of eligibility for waiver of the student’s fees. The student services coordinator will notify the parents / guardians promptly when the request is either granted or denied. A denial of a fee waiver request may be appealed by submitting an appeal in writing to the superintendent within 14 days of the denial. The superintendent or a designee shall respond within 14 days of receipt of the appeal. The superintendent’s decision may be appealed to the Board of Education
. The board's decision is final and binding.
