Students who are to be considered for acceleration may be called to the attention of the principal at any time during the school year. The following are factors to be considered in the acceleration of a child:
- Acceleration would have a reasonable chance of benefiting the child academically and social-emotionally.
- Acceleration would not cause an undue social and emotional adjustment.
- The child is achieving significantly above his/her current grade level.
The final decision on a child's acceleration shall be made jointly by the:
Parental opinions will be given very serious consideration in the making of the final decision.
In all cases of retention and acceleration, parents have the right to appeal the decision of the district staff to the superintendent. The superintendent’s decision may also be appealed to the Board of Education
. The board's decision is final.
