Public Participation at Meetings
At each regular and special open Board of Education meeting, members of the public and district employees may comment on or ask questions of the board, subject to reasonable constraints. Individuals appearing before the board should:
Petitions & Written Correspondence
- Address the board only at the appropriate time as indicated on the agenda and when recognized by the board president
- Adhere to speaking time requirements - The board president may shorten or lengthen your opportunity to speak. The president may also deny your opportunity to speak if you have previously addressed the board on the same subject within the past two months.
- Follow procedural matters regarding public participation - The board president has the authority to determine such matters when not otherwise defined in Board of Education policy.
- Identify themselves and be brief
Petitions or written correspondence to the board must be presented to the Board of Education at the next regularly scheduled board meeting. The author of written correspondence requesting consideration on a matter before the board will receive a written response to the correspondence from the board within 60 days of the board president's receipt of the correspondence.
