Return to School Metrics

Our Metrics committee has been studying the COVID-19 numbers as reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Lake County Health Department (LCHD). The numbers of cases and positivity figures will be used in guiding when or if students will be able to return to school. We are monitoring these figures daily and will make decisions about remote and hybrid learning accordingly.

Plans to return to school require three key metrics and four phases. Metrics for incident rates and positivity percentages related to student population in zip code 60060. The metrics will determine the phases and how we deliver education to our students. Safety decisions require:

  • Metrics must be met for a minimum of 7 consecutive days.
  • Daily monitoring
  • Weekly updates to the public
To help with the understanding of the current numbers, or “metrics,” the committee is sharing graphs highlighting the most current information for our geographic area.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to monitor the status of the current COVID-19 metrics.
