Mechanics Grove students from Longmeadow Estates and Hampton Reserve have a new, easy way to get to and from school. The Village of Mundelein constructed a 1,300 foot bike path that crosses over the land set aside for a possible Route 53 extension to connect Midlothian Road to the subdivision of Longmeadow Estates. The bike path also connects to the Hampton Reserve neighborhood just west of Mechanics Grove Intermediate School.

Most of the bike path runs along the north side of the school property. District 75 was pleased the Village was developing the path not only for the Mechanics Grove students but all the residents of Longmeadow Estates who will now have easy access to the Fremont Public Library, the Mundelein Park District, and Barefoot Bay.

Mechanics Grove third, fourth, and fifth graders in Longmeadow and Hampton have previously been bused to school due to distance or road hazards. With the completion of the path, busing was discontinued as students now have easy access to the school. District 75 will continue to bus students from Longmeadow Estates and Hampton Reserve to Lincoln, Washington, and Carl Sandburg Schools.
