This Friday, December 15th, from 2:00 p.m.-2:40 p.m. Ms Buchman’s homeroom hit the dance floor with those special needs students during their 9th period homeroom. Not only did the students conceive of the idea themselves but organized into committees to plan all of the details. They also administered a survey and talked to Ms.Brydon’s students one on one to solicit their ideas so that everyone would be sure to enjoy the event.

During the dance, the middle school gym was filled with food, decorations, games, and even a photo booth full of props all made and donated by the students. With music teacher Mr. Pittman spinning the tunes as deejay these Carl Sandburg students hosted an event to make memories for others for a lifetime. As Ms. Buchman herself says, “I was so honored to help the students as they worked on such a special event for students with special needs. This was truly the students' idea and it is amazing to see them collaborating for the good of others."
