Glimpses of the show capture cast members singing, dancing, and acting with flair in the rehearsals that are taking place every day after school and on weekends.  An intricate set has been erected to transform the Lincoln Stage, numerous detailed props are ready, and the hand-made costumes look amazingly professional.  What began as an extracurricular activity at CSMS has now become a widely anticipated community event showcasing the interests and talents of a 50-member cast and about 25 students on stage crew.  This elaborately produced musical also brings to center stage the expertise of Mrs. Moulee Gupta the Musical Director and Choreographer, Ms. Stevee Bellas the Vocal Director, and Mrs. Carol Holck the Stage Manager.

Director Gupta has a background in theater and dance, plus has worked at Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the past!  As the musical nears, Gupta has noticed students starting to “become their characters” and that “there are many moments in the show where you forget that you're watching middle school students perform because they've done such an outstanding job.”  She reflects that she has had confidence in taking on the project because she knows the strength of the district’s Arts programs and knows the talents of so many students and staff that surround her in her work.  Co-sponsors of the production are the PTO, the Steam Foundation and District 75, plus administrators, teachers, support staff, maintenance staff, parents, local businesses and others have also contributed to the endeavor.

After the first recent run through of the show, Hannah Earich who plays LeFou comments that this is her “most exciting moment so far and that the few people who were able to get a sneak peek were impressed – it’s made all of the preparation worth it!”  The cast and crew of Beauty and the Beast Jr., cordially invite you to "Be Our Guest!"  This first-time Carl Sandburg musical will be performed on February 9th at 7:00pm and on February 10th at 3:00pm & 7:00pm at the Lincoln Early Learning Center, 200 W. Maple Ave., Mundelein.  The ticket price is $10.00 and the advance sale will start January 30th at Carl Sandburg Middle School.  Tickets will also be available at the door prior to show times.
